Plumbing cost calculator: know your price per fixture
Plumbing is often quoted per fixture, but rough-in, testing and finish visits add up. Enter the job as you would quote it and see your break-even, target price and price per fixture.
Seven costs every plumbing bid has to cover
Example: a new house with 14 fixtures, supply and install
2 plumbers × 7 days × 8 hours = 112 crew hours at $41/hour. Overhead of $9,000 a month over 5 jobs. Target margin 15%.
| Crew labour with CPP, EI, vacation pay and WCB | $5,227 |
| Labour contingency (10%) | $523 |
| Materials | $5,200 |
| Equipment, fuel and disposal | $350 |
| Share of overhead | $1,800 |
| Cost of waiting to be paid | $88 |
| Break-even price | $13,188 |
| Price for a 15% margin | $15,515 |

These are example numbers to show how the math works, not market prices. Your wages, rates and overhead will be different, so put in your own. WCB uses the 2026 Alberta industry rate for Mechanical Contracting (42122).
